Night on the Tiles

March 9th, 2008 Big Al No comments

Flares TilesWe went out in Bradford last night for my friend and colleague’s 40th birthday. I had a good laugh. We had a few drinks in Lloyds before heading off to Flares for many hours of making a fool of ourselves dancing. At stupid o’clock we went to Omar’s for curry before seeing the night off and going home.

On Friday I was at my manager’s sister’s house (she’s house sitting) for food and merriment, watching sky sports on loop and leaving half way through 51st State because my friend and I were knackered.

Last night I dreamt I had a MacBook Pro. I dreamt that it fell in the bath and I dried it out and it ‘still’ didn’t work! Damn electronics.

Back to work tomorrow – boo! But not long until Easter – wahey!

Day To Day

March 6th, 2008 Big Al No comments

Nothing too interesting has happened, but I’m bored. Haven’t wanted to work all this week, and not been quite with it anyway, so apologies to anyone who’s been talking to me for a few minutes only to get the response “huh?” I’m feeling a lot better now – bonus!

One of the directors at work invited me to a charity meal and performance. I was a bit dubious about seeing an Elvis impersonator (!!) but I enjoyed it. A few drinks and a smoke… I don’t smoke, but it’s all good in moderation. I might go for a shisha next week or something. That’s if Markaz hasn’t been closed down because of the smoking ban. It still baffles me how a joint opened for smoking (no pun intended, I swear) can be threatened with closure because they’re not complying. It’s like closing down a swimming pool because someone might not like water. If you don’t like it, don’t go.

I got my 5 free HD-DVDs from Microsoft yesterday! They’ll make for some fancy beer coasters. Damn ye oh the Ray of Blu. Damn ye to hell. I heard the Xbox drives are selling for about £35 new now. What was it they said about the PS3 when it came out? “It looks like a bread bin. The only problem is there’s no bread to put in it.”

Anyway, I need the foods (oh yes, the appetite is back), and there’s important guitaring to be done. Wow, this post’s tagtastic.

An A-peas-ing Post

Oh dear, oh dear. I get way too bored at lunch times at work.

Got Rid!

June 2nd, 2007 Big Al No comments

Well, PIPEX decided that even though I only had 8 days usage this month before my contract expired that they’d charge me for a full month. I wrote them a nasty email saying I worked it out to £6-odd. Anyway, they replied a few days later saying that they’re not only waiving this month’s fee completely, but they’re also refunding me £25 for the inconvenience! Not bad for a company I’m no longer a customer with.

I mentioned I had a new Customer Service colleague a few weeks ago. He was full of shit and so sure of himself it was stupid. Anyway, he lied to our manager about why he was late, and probably about why he was taking time out of work. He also lied to the director of the company, which is probably not a good idea. Anyway, we ended his probation today and asked him not to come in any more! So, I’m once again without a colleague in customer services. That doesn’t really phase me to be honest – I got more work done without him anyway.

I’ve put my old Line6 Pod XT and also my PS2 on ebay to raise some cash for a bike. They’re ending this week… Hoping I get a couple of hundred for them both.

Bye Bye PIPEX & O2, Hello Be & Orange!

May 11th, 2007 Big Al No comments

The 17th is the monumental day when my 24mb broadband is activated on Be (full company name Be Un Ltd… Geddit?) and my O2 number ports over to my new Orange contract. Already got the new phone – a flashy Sony Ericsson K810i (no pun intended, and none probably understood unless you’ve studied the damn phone!)

I’ve got a new customer service colleague now too. I didn’t interview him, but I wish I had because he’s fuckin annoying and I probably wouldn’t have employed him. I hope he doesn’t last long.

Seems that a couple of my friends are having relationship problems. Hoping they’re okay.

Anyways, that was nice and boring :)
