For those who booked the time off work I hope you’re having a cool week off. I’ve so far spent it mostly on my tod, which doesn’t really bother me much since my family aren’t particulrly religious and subsequently neither am I.
Good Friday I would have probably gone into work if I hadn’t remembered (or rather have Nikki remind me) that I couldn’t give her a lift home on Friday because we’re not working. So Friday I spent sleeping mostly, and then over to Carl and Nikki’s for fake spaghetti bolognese (fake because it was made with pasta twists) before heading to the pub to see my friends’ band. Later I gave Carl and Nikki a lift back home where I stayed for an hour or two. In that time we must have had a snow storm or something as I left to find everything covered in white. In true Bradford style the roads hadn’t been gritted, so I spent a fair time driving home on the motorway at 25mph or something. Saturday and Sunday were spent doing nothing in particular.
Today I went biking with Geoff. It’s a fair while since I used my bike (which means I should really get somebody to service it) and as a result I’m (still) unfit. I did a quick health check on brake fluid, tyre pressure, etc. I have some weird-ass pump with a pull cord. I filled the tyres a bit and then did myself a mischief whilst removing the damn awkward nozzle – I took a chunk out of my finger and lost a pint or so of blood, but in the words of Dilios, God saw fit to grace me with a spare. A few in fact, so we headed off still. We saw the canal boat on which a friend of ours lives. I’m not entirely sure how someone can live in such a small space, but I die grass. We cycles along the canal from Geoff’s house, onto Bingley and by Five-Rise Locks (bloody steep!), through Shipley and then across the river and pedalled up a dirt track. About half way up I gave in while Geoff ran circles around me on the bike. We had to turn back and do the uphill section along the canal. I got back, and was quite ill and threw up. I blame Geoff for this since I felt fine before I said “if you feel like you’re gonna chuck, best to do it while you’re cycling!”
Anyway, a few mins of fresh air, a sit down and plenty of water later I felt fine and stomached a cup o’cha. Same again next week? We’ll see lol I need to get out every day I think. I feel better now, despite my sore behind. My finger’s still screwed though. Work tomorrow. Bah – I wish I hadn’t cancelled my holidays.
Here’s Hayseed Dixie playing a bit of AC/DC! Fun times were had… The support band, Instill, were brilliant too, singing songs about those important issues such as conkers, vending machines, pedalos, zoos, etc.
We went out in Bradford last night for my friend and colleague’s 40th birthday. I had a good laugh. We had a few drinks in Lloyds before heading off to Flares for many hours of making a fool of ourselves dancing. At stupid o’clock we went to Omar’s for curry before seeing the night off and going home.
On Friday I was at my manager’s sister’s house (she’s house sitting) for food and merriment, watching sky sports on loop and leaving half way through 51st State because my friend and I were knackered.
Last night I dreamt I had a MacBook Pro. I dreamt that it fell in the bath and I dried it out and it ‘still’ didn’t work! Damn electronics.
Back to work tomorrow – boo! But not long until Easter – wahey!
Nothing too interesting has happened, but I’m bored. Haven’t wanted to work all this week, and not been quite with it anyway, so apologies to anyone who’s been talking to me for a few minutes only to get the response “huh?” I’m feeling a lot better now – bonus!
One of the directors at work invited me to a charity meal and performance. I was a bit dubious about seeing an Elvis impersonator (!!) but I enjoyed it. A few drinks and a smoke… I don’t smoke, but it’s all good in moderation. I might go for a shisha next week or something. That’s if Markaz hasn’t been closed down because of the smoking ban. It still baffles me how a joint opened for smoking (no pun intended, I swear) can be threatened with closure because they’re not complying. It’s like closing down a swimming pool because someone might not like water. If you don’t like it, don’t go.
I got my 5 free HD-DVDs from Microsoft yesterday! They’ll make for some fancy beer coasters. Damn ye oh the Ray of Blu. Damn ye to hell. I heard the Xbox drives are selling for about £35 new now. What was it they said about the PS3 when it came out? “It looks like a bread bin. The only problem is there’s no bread to put in it.”
Anyway, I need the foods (oh yes, the appetite is back), and there’s important guitaring to be done. Wow, this post’s tagtastic.
Okay, so on Sunday I hurt a really good friend of mine, and I’ve really been beating myself up about it since. I came across as a really ignorant careless fool, but what’s said was said and I don’t really know what to do about. To say she’s got bigger fish to fry would be huge understatement. I love her dearly and I hope to God I haven’t screwed things up beyond repair, but I fear the damage is already done. I don’t know… but that’s how I feel.
That aside, tonight was fun. A couple of good friends can really make the difference. I have a couple more events lined up this week that should hopefully take my mind off things. I’m starting to think that’s an easy cop-out though.
I should sleep some more. I slept a good while last night but still managed to want to nap at exactly 8:15am, half an hour before work.
Well, I moaned at 1&1 and they switched my server back on. The day after I also received a letter from the debt collector for non-payment for services provided. I emailed them pointing out 1&1′s incompetences, and copied 1&1′s billing dept. All next morning I got an email from both companies saying that my account with the debt collection agency is closed and no monies are owed. I hope I don’t have to go through this every quarter.
It was Kes’ birthday yesterday so we went out for many many beers starting at 4pm. Saw some guys out I’ve not seen in years. I enjoyed it – it was good. Mikey came with me too. We left about 11:45 and started walking for a taxi, but ended up spending out last tenner in an Indian. We started walking from Shipley into Bradford as we still hadn’t found a taxi, and I tried to get cash from the cash machine. It turns out that my bank are closed for maintenance until 8am Monday, so I’m pretty much screwed for cash! By this time we were in Bradford and it was 2am. So, like you do, I called my mum for a lift home. Thank God she answered – I didn’t fancy the 10 miles walk home, especially when we’d already walked 4 miles to get to Bradford in the first place.
Anyway, got home okay in the end. Feeling surprisingly fine considering the length of the drinking sesh, which is more than I can say for Kes who’s apparently feeling like death.
