Breaks? What’re they?
I haven’t left my desk at work for two days solid. Calls are coming through faster than a telecoms switchboard. Today I lost about 70% of my calls!! That’s crazy. I have to help out retail sales, tech support, and occasionally returns, corporate sales and reseller sales, yet nobody seems to want to give me a hand.
Anyway, today I got ‘quote of the day’ award from my supervisor. This customer was pissing me off, so I basically put him in his place. He returned a DVD recorder and didn’t include the rest of the bits like he was asked to, and so he was kicking off about why he hadn’t had anything back yet. He kept arguing that we told him not to. I wasn’t going to give him the benefit of the doubt and collect the missing stuff, so I told him I would check the original call (which he seemed to take as an idle threat… which it was, until he decided to be an arse about it.) He demanded to speak to a manager, so I escalated it. Nobody was available, so then he tried to give me more shit. Funny thing is that when they lie they remove all their defenses – they try to trip you up all the time, but fail. Anyway, I eventually hung up, and said “and… the recording software’s stopped… cock!” which earnt me the said title.
Later on the emails were coming in thick and fast. The head of sales (big manager) came through asking if I’d got his email from ten minutes ago. I had to scroll about three times to get it. It was about LivePerson live chat tool for corporate websites. So, on top of me managing to only take 30% of the calls offered on my line, not getting chance to reply to any emails, I’ve got to teach myself how to use this chat client by Monday when we go live! That should be fun actually. I’m looking forward to it. I’m a bit odd like that sometimes.
